Seville Trip 2026 – A Memorable Cultural Experience
Our 2026 trip to Seville was an unforgettable experience, filled with culture, history, and resilience in the intense spring heat. With temperatures reaching 37°C, we spent much of our time exploring the city on foot, regularly applying sun cream and making frequent stops in the shade. Fountains around the city became welcome places to cool down and refill water bottles.
The students fully immersed themselves in Spanish culture, confidently using their Spanish language skills in real-life conversations with local people.
One memorable moment came when a local gentleman enthusiastically called out “¡Olé ese Betis!” to one of our students proudly wearing a newly purchased Real Betis shirt from the club’s official shop in the city centre.
On another occasion, a passer-by noticed the group posing for a photograph. With his arms raised in the air, he energetically shouted “¡Patata!”, encouraging everyone to smile for the camera. The students immediately joined in, and the resulting photograph perfectly captured the fun and joyful spirit of the group.
Highlights of the trip included visits to the magnificent Cathedral and La Giralda, which were particularly striking when illuminated at night, as well as the beautiful Alcázar, which left a lasting impression on everyone.
Another fascinating visit was to La Maestranza, where students enjoyed a guided tour and learned about the history and traditions of bullfighting in Spain. During our visit, workers were actively preparing the arena and horses for an event due to be broadcast on television later that day. It was especially interesting to later watch footage of the live event in the classroom, knowing it had taken place on the same evening we were there.
The spectacular Plaza de España was another highlight, with horse-drawn carriages adding to the atmosphere, while the nearby Parque de María Luisa provided welcome shade and the perfect setting for our packed lunches.
No trip would have been complete without a visit to Las Setas, where we enjoyed breathtaking sunset views across Seville and admired the striking structure illuminated after dark.
After long days of exploring in the heat, each evening was often rounded off with a well-deserved ice cream. Overall, the trip offered a wonderful combination of learning, cultural exchange, and unforgettable experiences that will stay with the students for years to come.
