Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme offers students a unique opportunity for personal growth, adventure, and achievement. The programme encourages young people to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and contribute to their community.
The award is divided into four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and an Expedition. Each section allows students to set personal goals, from learning a new skill or sport to engaging in meaningful volunteer work. For the Expedition, students experience the challenge of planning and completing an outdoor adventure, building resilience, teamwork, and independence along the way.
Available at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, the DofE Award is highly respected by universities and employers. It helps students become more confident, self-sufficient, and committed individuals—skills that are invaluable for future success.
Through DofE at Hockerill students are supported by experienced staff who guide them through each stage of the award, ensuring they gain the most from this enriching experience. Students from Year 10 and above are invited to apply, with a select number of spaces availabe.
