Evenings and Weekends in Boarding
Life in Boarding is vibrant, engaging, and full of opportunities to explore new interests, make friends, and create lasting memories. Beyond the classroom, boarders enjoy a rich programme of evening and weekend activities designed to inspire, challenge, and entertain.
After a wide range of College clubs — from rugby, hockey, and BMX riding to choir, Big Band, debating, drama rehearsals, and CCF — boarders enjoy supper and supervised prep. Evenings then give students the freedom to unwind, socialise with friends, make use of the music rooms, join Boarders Sport sessions like yoga or dodgeball, or take part in fun House activities, from arts and crafts to quiz nights.
Each weekend brings something different — from action-packed adventures such as Go Ape, Thorpe Park, Paintballing, Bubble Football, and Aqua Splash, to cultural experiences including museum and theatre trips in London, or punting and shopping in Cambridge.
Back on campus, boarders can enjoy a wide variety of activities, from sports tournaments to sushi making, gingerbread baking, table tennis competitions, movie nights, and BBQs. Special events such as black-tie dinners and our Easter celebration also give students the chance to socialise and make memorable experiences together.
Through these shared experiences, boarders grow in confidence, independence, and teamwork — all while creating lasting memories as part of Hockerill’s vibrant international community.
