Statement on Changes to Government Funding

We understand that the recent government announcement regarding the reduction in funding for state schools offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma at Sixth Form has raised understandable questions for our families and those making school choices.

While the Department for Education’s proposal does present challenges, no changes will take effect before the 2026 academic year. Alongside other IB schools, we are in active communication with the DfE through IBSCA (the International Baccalaureate Schools and Colleges Association) and with our own local MPs and other contacts, to press for a review of the decision and explore options for a financial cushion or transitional support.

Looking further ahead, our Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team are carefully reviewing all options to ensure that the College continues to provide an exceptional, internationally focused education. The IB has been at the heart of our ethos for many years, and our strategic planning will remain guided by that same commitment to breadth, challenge and global perspective, whatever adjustments may be required to future funding arrangements.

As soon as any confirmed decisions are made for subsequent cohorts, these will be shared openly with our parents and prospective families. In the meantime, we can reassure you that your you child is part of, or will be joining, a thriving and highly successful day and boarding community.
