Sixth Form Life

At Hockerill, our Sixth Form is a thriving and diverse community of day and boarding students. With students living on campus, our Sixth Form community is naturally close-knit, with boarding providing a genuine home-from-home experience.

Our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre is dedicated to Sixth Form students, providing a welcoming environment for independent study, collaboration and learning.

Leadership Opportunities

Leadership at Hockerill is about more than academic or sporting achievement. It is about making a positive contribution to the community around you.

Our Senior Prefect Leadership Team, Prefects and Heads of Equipe programmes give students opportunities to take on responsibility, develop their leadership skills and make a meaningful contribution to College life.

We encourage students to develop compassion, cultural awareness and interpersonal skills alongside intellectual and artistic leadership. These opportunities help students build confidence, take pride in their community and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Extra-curricular Clubs and Arts Opportunities

Alongside their academic studies, Sixth Form students can take part in a wide range of clubs, activities and opportunities.

Students enjoy regular opportunities to perform and participate in music and drama, while programmes such as the Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh and Model United Nations provide opportunities for leadership and personal development.

There are also multiple sports clubs, with opportunities to compete, alongside a variety of societies and activities, including Medical, Engineering and Cultural Societies and Interact Club.

Trips and Activities

Our trips and activities reflect Hockerill’s international outlook, giving students opportunities to explore new places, cultures and perspectives.

Trips include language and cultural exchanges in Europe and Asia, history and politics tours to Berlin, biodiversity studies in Croatia, outreach programmes in Africa and a ski trip to America.

For our boarders, there is a full weekend programme throughout the year. Weekly and flexi boarders can also join activities including trips to London and Cambridge, outdoor activities and theme parks, as well as themed movie nights.

Sixth Form Events

Sixth Form students have the opportunity to take part in a programme of community, charity and social events throughout the year. These include sporting events, winter balls, prom and graduation, creating opportunities for students to come together and celebrate their time at Hockerill.
