Curriculum and Courses

Choosing the right programme of study is one of the most important decisions students make when entering Sixth Form. At Hockerill, we offer a broad and flexible curriculum designed to enable students to build a programme that reflects their academic strengths, interests and future aspirations.  

From September 2027, students can choose between two main curriculum pathways: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and our A Level and Applied pathways. Together, these provide considerable choice, from the breadth and international outlook of the IB Diploma to the opportunity to specialise through A Levels or combine A Levels with an applied qualification. 

Whichever pathway students choose, expectations are high. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students academically, develop greater independence and intellectual curiosity, and provide strong preparation for university, apprenticeships and future careers. 

We recognise that the right programme will be different for every student. Academic strengths, preferred ways of learning, subject interests and future plans should all play a part in that decision. Our Sixth Form team will provide guidance throughout the application and enrolment process to help students make informed choices and select a programme that is both appropriately challenging and suited to their ambitions.
