Hockerill Students Celebrate International Baccalaureate Success
Students at Hockerill Anglo-European College are celebrating another year of success following the publication of this year's International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results.
Leading the cohort is Tommaso Guglielmi, who achieved the maximum possible score of 45 points. In an exceptional accomplishment, Tommaso completed four Higher Level subjects, achieving the top grade of 7 in every one. The International Baccalaureate estimates that only around 150 students worldwide achieve the maximum score of 45 points each year, placing Tommaso amongst a very small group of exceptional students.
There were many other outstanding individual performances across the cohort. Five students achieved three Grade 7s at Higher Level, equivalent to achieving three A* grades at A Level, whilst more than 42% of all Higher Level grades awarded were either a Grade 7 or Grade 6, with a Grade 6 broadly comparable to an A grade at A Level.
The College also continued to perform strongly against international benchmarks, with an average points score more than three points above the global average.
Principal Alasdair Mackenzie said:
"I am incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved. These results reflect two years of hard work, resilience and determination, supported by the expertise, dedication and care of our staff.
Tommaso's achievement is truly exceptional, and it is wonderful to see so many students excelling in the most academically demanding Higher Level courses. These results provide an excellent foundation for our students as they progress to the next stage of their education.
We congratulate every student on their achievements, thank our staff for their unwavering commitment throughout the programme and wish all of our students every success as they move on to universities and other exciting opportunities."
Many members of the cohort will now take up places at leading universities in the UK and overseas, whilst others will pursue a range of exciting higher education and career pathways.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We wish every student the very best for the future and hope that all members of our College community enjoy a well-deserved and relaxing summer.
