Exploring France - Year 9 and 10 Pyrenees Trip

Students from Years 9 and 10 have been enjoying an unforgettable experience during their trip to the Eastern Pyrenees, staying at the La Coume youth centre in Mosset, France.

After a quick tour of the historic city of Carcassonne, pupils settled into life at the centre and received a warm welcome from the hosting team. Throughout the week, students have immersed themselves in French culture, language and daily life while taking part in a wide range of exciting activities.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the beautiful medieval town of Villefranche-de-Conflent and the impressive Fort Libéria. Students explored the fascinating history of the fortress and enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Pupils have also discovered French culture and cuisine through shared meals and local experiences, while gaining an insight into a more sustainable way of life in the Pyrenees. Walks in the mountains gave everyone the opportunity to appreciate the stunning natural environment, including the local flora and fauna.

The trip also included a drama workshop, which encouraged students to develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills in a fun and creative setting. Evenings were filled with memorable shared moments around the piano, games and group activities, helping to create a strong sense of community among the students.

The experience has provided not only valuable cultural and linguistic learning opportunities, but also memories that will stay with students for years to come.
