Celebrating GSCE Success
Two Students Achieve Clean Sweep of Grade 9s
Students at Hockerill Anglo-European College are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results, with two students achieving the remarkable feat of securing Grade 9s in all ten of their GCSE subjects.
Jamie and Toby each achieved ten Grade 9s, an exceptional accomplishment that places them among the highest-achieving students nationally.
Their success is part of a strong set of results across the year group, with students achieving excellent outcomes across a broad range of subjects.
Strong Results Across the Year Group
Overall, 86% of Hockerill students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics. Achievement across the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects was also particularly strong, with the College recording an Average Point Score of 6.1, significantly above national figures.
The results also demonstrate the significant progress students made during their time at Hockerill. The College's Progress score would place the school within the Government's Well Above Average category, reflecting the progress made by students between joining Hockerill and completing their GCSEs.
Alongside Jamie and Toby's outstanding results, several other students achieved an exceptional set of grades:
- Elvis – 7 Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s
- Sophie – 7 Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s
- Kaysan – 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7
- Phoebe – 6 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7
- Imogen – 6 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s
- Clara – 4 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7
- Greta – 3 Grade 9s and 7 Grade 8s
Principal Alasdair Mackenzie congratulated students on their achievements:
“We are delighted with this year's GCSE results. They reflect the hard work, determination and resilience shown by our students throughout their time at Hockerill.
“To have two students achieve a clean sweep of Grade 9s is a great accomplishment, but what is particularly pleasing is the strength of the results across the year group. These outcomes demonstrate that our students have embraced the opportunities available to them and have achieved success across a broad range of subjects.
“We congratulate every student on their achievements and wish them every success in the next stage of their education.”
The College would also like to congratulate the entire Year 11 cohort and thank the staff, parents and carers whose support has contributed to these achievements.
We wish all of our students every success as they take the next step in their education and look forward to following their continued progress.
