Bishop’s Stortford District Schools Badminton
The Under 15 and Under 13 boys competed in the District Championships at Leventhorpe School on Monday 12 January. This marked the first time in several years that Hockerill students had participated in competitive badminton, and our boys were eager to make an impression.
From the warm-up, it was clear that we would be competitive, with heads turning among other schools as our teams prepared. Each team consisted of four players, ranked one to four according to ability. Players competed in singles matches against opponents of the same ranking from other schools, then partnered up to play a doubles match.
The Under 13 boys performed extremely well, winning the majority of their games and finishing as runners-up. The Under 15 team were particularly strong, maintaining a consistently high standard throughout the competition. They remained unbeaten and were crowned District Champions 2026.
The girls’ competition takes place next Monday, and we look forward to further success.
Congratulations to all the students who participated and represented Hockerill so well.
