A Celebration of the Life of Jo Barker
Posted on: 25th February 2019
There will be a celebration of the life of Jo Barker, an extraordinary woman who very sadly passed away from secondary breast cancer in December 2018 after an incredibly resilient and open struggle with cancer since her first diagnosis five years ago. Jo’s funeral was held in Penzance in December and was a beautifully intimate and personal service. With spring around the corner, it is now time to CELEBRATE Jo’s life and reflect on her legacy and the huge impact she has left on so many, not least the many students she taught and inspired throughout her long and expansive career as an English teacher.
This Celebration will be held at Audley End House and Gardens, Saffron Walden (one of Jo’s favourite places to visit with her beloved Pixie) in the Great Hall at 3:00pm on March 23rd, followed by refreshments and nibbles in The Housekeeper’s Room.
Come along to be part of a series of tributes to Jo from her friends, family, colleagues and students.
Audley End is a short drive down the road from where Jo taught for several years at Hockerill Anglo-European College. For those travelling from further afield, Audley End is just a short, direct train journey from London Liverpool Street.
