Jo Barker

Posted on: 7th December 2018

It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you that Ms Jo Barker passed away yesterday. Although Jo had been ill for some time, this will nonetheless come as a shock to all those staff, former and current students and parents who knew and loved her.

Jo has left an indelible mark on Hockerill, and will be remembered with warmth and affection. She was an exceptional teacher, a passionate devotee of literature and someone who gave willingly and freely of her time and expertise. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jo’s family at this sad time.

There will be a book of condolence available in the College’s main reception for any former students or parents to sign. Anybody who wishes to leave a message but cannot visit Hockerill in person should email and their words will be added to those being collected.

For the final week of term, Reception will be open from 8.30am until 5.00pm. There will also be staff in Reception during the holiday period Monday 17th December until Friday 21st December. During the holiday period the office hours are the same as during term time.

I know that many members of the community may wish to attend the funeral service and commemoration events. When we have more detail I will write again with these arrangements.
