Student, aged 13, raises over £1,000 for new Macmillan Woodlands Centre
Tilly Kingsley, 13, from Hertfordshire has raised £1,071 for the new Macmillan Woodlands Centre at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Tilly who goes to Hockerill Anglo-European College in Bishop’s Stortford raised money through a cake sale and dress down day at school. With over 350 cakes on sale, the day was a huge success and not a crumb was left!
The new Macmillan Woodlands Centre is a cause close to the Kingsley family’s heart as Tilly’s Father, Roger, is currently being treated at the centre. Tilly presented the cheque to Macmillan along with her parents (Roger and Karim Kingsley) and Roger’s consultant, Simon.
The money will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by cancer in the local area. Building the new £2.4 million Macmillan Woodlands Centre will mean that all outpatient oncology services can be brought back together at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in one state-of-the-art building. It will mean more choice for local people, providing treatment on their doorstep instead of making long journeys to other centres when unwell.
