Particular congratulations go to the following students who all achieved distinctions:

Liliana Foster-Kane – Grade 1 Theory

Of particular note is Griffydd Williams-Renouf’s achievement of Grade 8 Tuba, as well as Katherine Lewington’s distinction for her ARSM diploma, a post -grade 8 qualification requiring an extremely high level of musicianship.

Recent music events have included a workshop led by renowned jazz musician Pete Lemer, focusing on students’ improvisation skills and the development of melodic themes within jazz solos. The IB musicians also enjoyed a visit to the Royal Festival Hall on 8th February to hear a live performance of one of their set works, Kodaly’s ‘Dances of Galanta’, along with concertos by Beethoven and Bartok.

As well as Bugsy Malone, the music department has several upcoming concerts taking place next half term which students are working hard to prepare for, including:

-          27th February: Year 8 Concert

-          5th March: Soloist Concert

-          20th March: Spring Concert

-          22nd March: Jazz Concert

We very much look forward to seeing you at these events.
