College Capital Project

Posted on: 5th April 2017

The College is delighted to announce that it has been successful in securing substantial government funding to support its plans for the development of the College campus.

The Education Funding Agency received requests for more than £1.3 billion for over 3800 projects to this year’s round of Capital Improvement Fund bidding. As a result, £466 million was awarded for 1435 projects across 1184 academies and sixth-form colleges.  Hockerill Anglo-European College has secured two bids, one to construct a Sports Hall and one to replace windows on the listed buildings of the site. To achieve one bid would have been wonderful but to have been successful in everything we bid for is amazing news.

These projects, which will now be submitted for planning permission, will be supplemented by the relocation of the Science Faculty into a purpose built science complex and plans to redevelop the vacated old gym and current science buildings.

The news that we have received funding from the government means that the strategic plans for the site can now become a reality and that we will be able to achieve more than we had originally thought possible in a shorter time period.  The next two years will be an exciting time for the College and the ambition to have facilities which match the excellent standards of attainment and progress is today one step closer.
