Hockerill Anglo-European College offers an academic curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. The Middle Years Programme is followed in Years 7-9 with the vast majority of students being taught two modern foreign languages (French. German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish are on offer). Music (to all Year 7 students), History and Geography (to able linguists in Years 9 and 10) are taught in French and German.
Year 10 and 11 students are prepared for GCSEs but subjects are still taught through the ‘Approaches to Teaching and Learning’ methodology of the International Baccalaureate. Concept-based learning through global contexts remains key to the students’ learning. GCSE results are high and put Hockerill among the top performers in the league tables.
The prestigious IB Diploma Programme is the only offer in the Sixth Form and this broad and balanced approach is widely regarded as the best Sixth Form education available in the world. Results are high with the College being ranked as the top partially selective school for A level/IB results, and second top partially selective school for combined GCSE and A level/IB results in the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2016.
